Logs show event but device does not

image

Not sure what happened?

Your logs do not appear to show any device events from "Switch Top of Stairs Master," which is the event history table you are looking at. I do see logs from an app that says it's trying to turn off this switch (at 3:00:19.515). This just means that the app sent the command, not that anything else necessarily happened, though if all is working well, it should.

If that did not result in an event, then one of three things happened:

  • the switch was already off (so there was no state change, and no state change normally means no event with this type of device)
  • the command never reached the device (maybe a mesh network problem?), or
  • none of the above were true but the report back from the device never reached the hub for some reason (which would be a similar issue as the previous possibility).

If everything is working as expected, then the switch was likely already off--the simplest explanation. If there are actually problems, then more details about what is happening and what kinds of devices you're working with would be good to know for more troubleshooting. Good luck!

The switch was on this morning when I got up at 5:34. I was also up at 2:58 but it never shut off. C-7 Zooz 71 switch. No ghosts.

logging enabled has no effect on wheter events are shown in the events tab or not.

most likely there is some kind of mesh problem.. is it zwave or zigbee. first and if zwave we need your zwave info under settings. maybe a ghost.. if zigbee. we would need your zigbee routing info..

is the switch reliable 100% of the time if you manually turn it on and off?

@tmcdonald What is device 2582 Outlet Plants Mud Room?

I have 105 z-wave devices. Around 50 of which are 700 series. The switch in question has 66 neighbors. lol
