I think this could be a very basic question or perhaps it shows my fundamental lack of knowledge. But for the sake of intellectual curiousity I'd appreciate if someone could clue me in on something that always strikes me as quirky.
Sometimes, a motion sensor or a button is activated but nothing happens and nothing shows up in the logs. For example, maybe I had forgotten that I paused a motion lighting rule and so when I walked past a motion sensor I thought something was wrong with the motion sensor because the lights didn't turn on. This particular motion sensor has only one purpose which is to trigger the motion lighting rule that I had inadvertantly paused and forgotten about.
When I go to the logs there is no record of the motion sensor registering activity or inactivity.
It's like the motion sensor is offline or the battery is dead. But when I'm finished troubleshooting the motion sensor and I can't find anything wrong with it - that's when I'll finally notice that I had paused the motion lighting rule and when I restart that rule the motion sensor logs activity and the lights appropriately turn on.
I have text logging enabled on the motion sensor at all times and may or may not have debug logging on. So I don't get why the motion sensor can show that it is active on its device page but nothing apprears in the logs and the same goes for when the motion sensor subsequently registers as inactive? Obviously, it has something to do with the rule being paused but I just don't get why the motion sensor isn't appearing in the logs when hubitat can correctly report that the motion sensor either is or is not seeing activity?
Could someone lay some knowledge on me, please? It is much appreciated. Thanks!!!
(FWIW, I don't think I have only experienced this with one brand of motion sensor but the one that instigated this post is a Hue motion sensor that is directly paired to my C-7 so it is not paired at all with a Philips Hue Hub.)
