Greetings. I have transitioned from a VeraEdge hub a number of zwave kwikset locks, two of which I use to code guests in for access to 2 Airbnbs. I really like Lock Code Manager and the ability to setup codes with enable and disable dates. The codes I use are the last 4 digits of the guests phone number - so it is easy for them to remember. I like to add the codes when a guest books and have run into a problem doing this because Lock Manager requires unique codes. A recent guests code was not working, because the code was previously entered for a different future guest. I received no warning when initially entering the code and only found out after after deleting the Users and Code and re-entering.
Is there a reason the access codes must be unique? It probably won't happen often, but from my pov, if a unique key is necessary, the user name would be better.
The lock itself doesn't see user names. It only sees the code. And codes are entered on the lock keypad without indicating the slot #. Therefore, codes have to be unique - or they cannot be distinguished from each other.
Edit - you can reduce the probability of this happening by using 6 digit codes.
ahh, it's a limitation of the lock itself. got it.
Thanks for your reply and the 6 digit code suggestion. I may give that a try and see if folks can remember 6 digits from their phone number! ... which is probably better than me having to remember to delete old codes and setup new ones last minute.
