I’m thinking about buying a localized version of the elevation and it says it comes with a “usb radio stick (with cable)” - does this mean that if I disconnect the stick I’ll be able to use the unit with it’s built in radios on the US frequencies? (I assume you can’t do both frequencies at the same time anyway)

Yes on both counts. Zigbee is one frequency range worldwide, so that radio is internal. Our overseas hubs come with an external Z-Wave radio, and when connected to the hub, the hub software recognizes it as the Z-Wave radio, disabling the internal US frequency radio. Only one Z-Wave radio can work at a time.
