I think it should work, because I use a Fingbox, which integrates with IFTTT, to detect when the maid is at home. And then use Hubitat's IFTTT integration to set a virtual switch while she's at home.
To detect family and frequent visitors, @jwetzel1492's iPhone WiFi Presence Sensor works well. It also works with Android phones.
