Lightify 4 button switch - problems

Hi Folks,

I caught a “mega” deal on Amazon warehouse and bought quite a few lightify switches. Bit of an impulse purchase but were only £5 so couldn’t resist.

What I’ve noticed is that sometimes they require a couple of presses before anything happens and then work perfectly. It’s like they go in to some sort of power save mode. Not great for controlling lights !

Is this the case with the actual lightify hub too ? Or Hubitat specific?

I know there are a few posts on here but has anyone got them working reliably ? Debating whether to return.

I believe its button specific, I have 4 of these, and two I use currently behave in just the same way. If I scan the network with my Xbee half the time they don't show up, but if I use one, it will. Which makes me think that these fall asleep, somewhat annoyingly :expressionless:

In fact, I may have to try one with its own hub, and see how that behaves.
I've found them brilliant for dimming etc, after you've woken it up that is.

I wander if it’s firmware on the buttons; now you mention it; one of them causes me no problems.

I guess you need the lightify hub to update the firmware ?

Yeah.
I have their hub here. I'll give it a whiz when I can. Just to see if the behaviour is the same.

That would be really appreciated!

I have these and I'd say it works over 90% of the time, sometimes a second press is required, but for 10USD I can't complain. You got a great deal at 5

I paired it with my Lightfy hub, no updates for the switches :frowning: I was kind of hoping there was.

Thanks for checking, are they sleepy when connected directly to the hub?

Sadly I don’t have any other devices on there. If I get chance I will try them again though :+1:

i have a couple of peoples houses on the lightify hubs and they haven't mentioned any sleepiness. I also havent noticed it on my HE, not that i use it often. I think mike mentioned that when using non zigbee 3.0 lamps, LightLink ones as repeaters for anything other than lamps ie motion sensors; one of the symptoms of their "issues" is apparent sleepiness of buttons.

I managed to resolve this and all my switches are working reliably now! I held down button's 3 and 4 until the remotes flashed and then pressed the 'configure' button a few times on the device page.... the device now works correctly. I was able to replicate this across multiple remotes.

From reading other threads it appears that there are a number of configuration commands that get sent during provisioning and sometimes some of these get 'missed' ...

Excellent!!! I'm going to try this now

Kind of like the Hue dimmers, but don’t generally need rejoined. It does take seemingly forever for the initiation of the device to complete. If you join them to HE without any repeaters connected, they will all join perfectly. If you have any issues with your mesh, they will let you know. I have 9 of the Lightify 4-button switches and they all work perfectly since I added a second HE last December and created another zigbee mesh. Like the Hue, they only seem to like routing through Samsung outlets or directly to the hub as a child device.

Just to confirm things still seem ok today....

I tried mine yesterday, maybe I did it wrong, but I don't see any difference here.
I'll have to give it another go.

One subtle thing I was doing is clicking configure repeatedly 6/7 times... no idea if I need to or if it actually makes a difference but worth a try

I found that it best to take out the battery on them then put it back in when holding the join buttons. That usually made it configure correctly.
