Light switch by my sons bed

I have just installed a zigbee dimmer switch in place of a standard wall switch in my sons bedroom.

He has a high sleeper bed with gaming area underneath and single bed on top. The bed part is quite high a d I’d like to give him some kind of switch next to his bed so he can turn the light on if he gets up during night so he can see the ladder to get down.

What would people use for this? I’m in the UK.

Some sort of basic Zigbee button could be useful, then link that into an RM rule. I have a Hue Tap on my bed for my lights, but also have a Samsung Button I use to switch the mode from Day <-> Night. While the Samsung Button isn't available anymore, you could find something similar....

What he said!

I use a couple different brands of Zigbee buttons mounted low at door frames for 3 year old and 1 year old. The 1 year old just learned what they do. I have it so that they only work every 30 seconds to keep them from flashing the lights for fun. For these buttons push, double tap and hold all just toggle the same light.

The Sonoff Zigbee Switch (SNZB-01) is pretty good, and only about £8 on UK eBay. I've not had mine installed long enough to tell what the battery life is like though.

Which brands have you used? Any model numbers I can look at?

I've had good luck with the Sonoff SNZB-01 Zigbee Wireless Switch.
Kind of a PITA to open but hard to beat for the price.

I have a Sonoff already mentioned. Original battery didn't last long but 2nd one working well. The other 2 are SmartThings buttons. Both brands have worked well.

I have a couple of these as well, they seem to work pretty well and look like an actual light switch.

I currently use Hue dimmers by existing light switches, or osram smart+ 4 button switches by the beds - either loose on a bedside table or wall mounted in the case of my youngest's bedroom as she has a high sleeper. See Ebay item 324470625789. Reliable but I have one in particular that seems to eat batteries.

In my kids rooms there are Lutron Pico remotes by their beds and I've programmed any button to toggle the lights on dimly after a certain time. This way they don't have to even find the right button to press in the dark, any button toggles the lights on and off to a dim level.

I could find Litron pico in the uk :weary:

AliExpress always have 20-40 day lead time and I’m too impatient to wait that long😂 EBay, Amazon and Vesternet seem to be the main places I buy from as I can get them fairly quickly

Nothing is guaranteed, but nine days later my shipment was delivered.
(5 pieces with AliExpress standard shipping)

I got a pack of these early on in my Hubitat adventure. I have managed to use them for lower switches for my 3 year old.. controlling the exhaust fan from a comfortable seat on the throne...and wired in my old doorbell switches...I keep finding little uses for these guys.

They seem to be a US based product as don’t come up here in the UK. I’ve gone for the sonof one for now and might also try the Phillips hue.

I don’t think they are even produced anymore. I though someone had international shipping but I am not positive. Best of luck!
