I continue to have 2 ZW4SF's paired with S2 on ST and have had zero lockups. They've been excellent fan controllers. One is used daily.
HHMMM.... maybe that is the secret for these devices then... We'll see.
I know I have tried to research the lock up problem and not everyone has this problem.
BUT they don't say anything about how they have paired them either, so that variable is unknown.
Thanks for the input though!
Ii just paired a second controller with S2 security.
I will monitor both of these and see what happens.
I think you were having problems in the past with some Zooz sensors and getting corrupted messages from the hub causing false reports right? Then S2 fixed that (mostly if not fully). There is a chance the same was happening from the hub to those switches, in a way it made the firmware on the device crash. So that's a possible explanation for why S2 could help.
Yes, you are correct about the Zooz sensors. They have been PERFECT since S2 was enabled on them!
Thank you for the tip!
I remembered your tip and this is why I am trying it on these controllers.
I hope that this corrects the lockups .
Well I spoke too soon!
Today, 5/29, one of the controls was locked up. Couldn't turn it on so had to power cycle and it started working again.
DAMN! I was hoping the S2 would fix this, but it did not.
Oh well....
And again on 6/4 all three of the controllers locked up AGAIN WITH S2 security..... VERY frustrating!
When they lock up, they do not respond to remote commands and local button pushes so I think they may be receiving trash on the z-wave radio.
I might try hanging a scope on parts of the radio to see if something indicates fake data that is locking them up or stopping them from running (clock).
It has to be SOMTHING with these... power supply? noise suppression? radio?
Thing is it is SO random that it will be hard to catch, but scope logging will be my friend!
