I installed a Leviton ZW15S Wall switch thinking that since it is ZWave Plus compatible that surely it would work with Hubitat. When a manual Z-Wave paring failed, I searched for it on the compatibility list only to discover that it is not there. What does it take to add this very basic device to the great Hubitat system?
A Z-Wave device should include regardless of whether there's a driver, though a built-in one will almost certainly work for this device regardless of whether it's been officially tested.
Try a reset of the device or a general Z-Wave exclusion (with any Z-Wave controller, whether or not it's this hub) as good first steps. The device manual should have the procedure for both.
Others have provided great guidance, but I’ll add that I have 46 Leviton ZW15S-1RW devices (800 series Z-Wave) in service right now. They have been operating fine for well over a year now.
I have a C8-Pro.
They work with the built-in Generic Z-Wave Switch driver, but @jtp10181 ’s Universal Switch Driver is much better.
I’ve had real good luck with SmartStart on those devices.
Aside, the Leviton 800 series are far and away better than Leviton’s older 500 series switches.
The Leviton 800 series are not LR enabled. While 800 (and even late 700!) series Z-Wave chips support LR capabilities it is not a requirement to enable them.
I paired them mostly using SmartStart. They just come up in traditional mesh mode.
