I have 4 Leviton DZ6HD Z-Wave Dimmers. They are all on firmware version 1.20 and all are using the built-in Leviton DZ6HD Driver.
2 of the dimmers remember the last brightness setting and 2 of them, for some reason, don't.
The 2 that work, if I set the brightness manually or digitally to a certain level and turn the light off, when I turn it back on, it ramps up to the last brightness setting.
However, 2 of the dimmers act differently. 1 of them goes to 100% brightness and then down to the last set brightness. The other dimmer just goes back to 100% no matter what the last dimmer level was.
Interestingly, the 2 that work properly, appear to first paired to my hub as "Generic Z-Wave Smart Dimmer", the 2 that aren't working appear to have first paired as a "Generic Z-Wave Central Scene Dimmer" and "Leviton DZ6HD Z-wave Dimmer".
Any thought on how to get all the switches properly remembering and going straight to their last brightness setting?
If these are working properly, I would change the other two (not working correctly) drivers to the "Generic Z-Wave Smart Dimmer . Hit Configure after you swap drivers, and see what happens.
K, just tried that on the Upstairs Bathroom Light and no change in behavior. That light goes right back to 100% when the brightness is lowered and then turned off.
So somehow I got the upstairs bathroom light working properly. Seems when I switch to Generic Z-Wave Smart Dimmer as the driver and then back to the Leviton Driver and hit save and configure, it started working properly and remembering the last dimmer level it was at.
However I can't get the downstairs bathroom light to work repeating the same steps. The only thing different about this light is it's a 3-way switch and it's wired to the matching DD00R-DL remote dimmer. Perhaps this is a limitation of using the matching remote dimmer?
Are you sure that they are all the same? In the data section of the driver, do they all show the same identification information? It should look like this:
Just double checked and all 4 dimmers have the same deviceid, same deviceType, same inClusters, same manufacturer, same outClusters and same zwNodeInfo.
However, I've solved the issue so I'll post here for others who come across this issue.
I noticed in the manual that there are advanced features that are programable via the paddle and through z-wave as per below
I noted that for fade on time there was the option of instant on. I thought perhaps this was the issue, that it somehow got set to instant on. I couldn't find any instructions on how to do this programming through the paddle but found a community driver for this dimmer that exposes all of these advanced programming options. I set the delay on to a quick fade on and it solved the issue! Now when I set the brightness at say 48% and turn the light off. When I turn the light on, it goes right to that brightness without going to 48% first!
