My Bam A1 cameras work on LAN mode but at 1fps I only use them to be sure the bed plate is clear.

Time to look at an ESP cam solution. Lucky I have one at home that I was going to use for another project which isn't going ahead!
Was just about to ask about something like that. Sounds like you're set.
They work, but the video quality is usually pretty terrible! I have one and don’t use it for that reason.
If you buy the more expensive units, you start to get into decent store bought quality.
Agreed. But as a compact solution (with a half decent frame rate which I can fit into the printer) it should do the job for just monitoring. TBH in a well lit environment they aren't half bad - certainly better than the OEM camera.
I have ordered the longer camera cable as the cam+mb won't fit into the space where the existing camera is (I do plan to mount it on the other side which is equally tight). The plan is to mount the camera module in a case like the original and have the main board down the side. I could use a pi zero but I'd rather reserve these for better projects.
I also see that orca slicer can accommodate external camera feeds so it should all work out.
Very true, good lighting will definitely help. You also need good strong wifi to the area as well, the antennas on the esp32 dev boards are tiny and fairly weak.
Got a Panda Lux on order to help with that one!
I just mounted a Wyze cam on my P1P and called it a day.
Heh, I've been running a big batch (60+) of custom beam clamps on 3 printers for 3 days now. With walls, tops, & bottoms set at 6 and 45% gyroid I'm really eating through a lot of spools.
Same, sort of, I had a spare small Ring cam, and used that.
I've got a couple of spare v2's after upgrading but printing pla and abs/etc means sometimes the lid is raised and the door needs to be kept open. Mounting any external camera is just a pain when I have to swing it out of the way everytime I need to keep the environment cool. (plus the V2s which run RTSP simply hate my unifi APs which is why they were retired in the first place )
Prusa's G-code Viewer is getting recommendations as a standalone viewer to be used with several popular slicers. Anyone here using it? Are there any advantages over ORCA's internal viewer?
I’ve got to be honest, I rarely need to look at the gcode, so I just use orca slicer or download it and use VScode.
Orca slicer and Bambu slicer are based off of PrusaSlicer, so it's entirely possible that it's the same thing.
I finally finished my carbon fibre bed project. I’m really happy with the result, and it’s 100 grams lighter than the old one.
