I'm just starting to learn the Room Lighting app. It appears that Zooz buttons (scene control) are automatically added, so I tried to use them. According to the page, button 5 is supposed to turn off the lights. The log shows that button 5 was pressed but nothing happens. What am I missing? Thanks.
Thanks bertabcd1234. That is helpful as the log notes that button 5 was pushed but says "Already Turned Off". Two lights in that room are On and Hubitat knows that they are On from looking at the device pages.
Try selecting the force option so that the actions happen regardless of state. I think you are getting this result because of the way you set up the buttons. Based on the last table, pushing button 5 would say already turned off because some of the switches are off.
The above is basically it: Room Lighting has a concept of "Activate" and "Turn Off," but it's not necessarily reflective of the states of the actual lights should you happen to have changed them outside of Room Lighting. By default (I think...), it assumes RL handles everything. Under Means to Turn Off Lights > Turn Off Lights Options, there are some settings that may help you get what you want if you don't want RL to need to consider the lights "Activated" first (e.g., "Turn off even if already partially off," or "Switches that determine all lights off"), among other ways you might do this.
Thank you for the suggestion. I found the Force option under Activate Light Options. I enabled "Force" for all of the light switches. Unfortunately, the results were the same, "Already Turned Off", so no action occurred.
All the lights do turn off when I use the "Turn Off" button in the room lights setup screen, so I don't understand why Hubitat is ignoring the trigger.
The Turn Off button in the UI (similar for Activate) just performs the actions as they would happen, ignoring any "restrictions" you may have set up to make them otherwise not happen. They are intended for testing, mostly, and their behavior is unlike the Activator device that can be used in apps (or manually).
I used the Activate button to turn on the lights. After doing that, the lights did turn off with the Zooz button 5 press. It seems a real weakness of the Room Lighting app that it ignores the physical change in state of switches/dimmers. People aren't expected to use their physical switches, really?
Only by default. Options like the one I mentioned above can change this behavior. I would suggest playing around with the options for Activate and the options for Turn Off, possibly including the settings for the activator/indicator device as well (e.g., setting it to "Group: on if any on" might be all you want), to find a configuration that does what you are looking for.
Yes! That's exactly what was needed. I had seen that option and misinterpreted it as having something to do with a light being partially dimmed. Thanks for solving the problem!
