I've just had an email about this sensor. With the Aqara FP300 nowhere to be seen is this the first battery powered presence sensor?

Pre-order is available again now and you can order to the UK with free delivery, £25 per unit.
Just a heads up, this sensor is Matter over Thread, and thread is not supported natively with Hubitat, you will need a Thread border router that can talk to Hubitat for this to be even remotely possible to use like an Apple TV or Home Pod with Thread support. Then you'll need a driver for it to work, I think I saw a Matter Presence driver in the works somewhere.
Ah thanks, I'll be waiting for the Aqara unit then!
I bought one of these and I'm using it with the "Generic Matter Motion Sensor" driver. It's working well for just motion, but obviously the battery level, light level, etc. aren't available without a real driver. Is there one in the works?
Just seen this thread now and have ordered one at a higher price of £41, including free delivery to UK.
You can use the community "Matter Advanced Bridge" driver and you should get child devices for motion and illuminance (not sure about battery level).
Example below showing the Meross Smart Presence Sensor (wired):
Does it not need a Thread border router then as mentioned above?
It states that it does, then I guess we have to first commission the device using any of the following hubs in the screenshot, then generate a matter code for use in Hubitat. I normally use SmartThings, Aqara M3, or Zemismart M1 hub.
For me , the "first" battery powered presence sensor I came across & use with Hubitat is made by Tuya & uses Zigbee. Not necessarily feature-rich but does the job for my needs.
I have three of these but would not call this a "presence sensor".
I am looking for a presence sensor that will match the realibilty of Aqara FP2 (battery powered is a bonus!).
I have now received this device and I am quite impressed, just wish I waited a bit longer as Aqara FP300 has just been released!
Paired it to Aqara M3 hub via Matter thread.
Then generated code to share to other ecosystem, including Hubitat.
Presence detection seems to be really good, has a default min timeout of 20 seconds though, which is pretty high for my liking.
Negative for me is that the sensor is pretty big and device settings can only be accessed locally, which is annoying.
Overall, my best 5 best motion/presence sensors:
Upon further testing, although this is a really good presence sensor on similar detection levels as FP2 and seemed really promising....
Unfortunately. I cannot recommend this sensor for Hubitat users as I am having issues keeping it connected to Hubitat and SmartThings
(Aqara M3 is still connected and having no issues!).
I will continue to use it with Aqara M3 only.
Bring your M3 hub into Hubitat via matter and the sensor may come over as a child device to the hub. If so it will be connected to the M3 but controlled by Hubitat. That is if Aqara makes the sensor available that way. Worth a quick try.
Yes, already have several hubs added to Hubitat via Matter Bridge driver!
Unfortunately, Matter Bridges only expose supported non-Matter ZigBee devices to Hubitat, and Matter devices i.e. LWR01 need to be added separately.
I had no experience with this actual device so that is what I was concerned about. Some of the Aqara zigbee devices still don't come over via matter. It was worth a shot.
