Kwikset SmartCode 914 Lock doesn't communicate back to the Hub

Yes
The lock just kept re-locking every few seconds with no response back.

I noticed in the log that every time it locked the door it gave a different report in the log- locked and unlocked Back and forth even though all the events were lock events.

The virtual lock has been installed and is providing some information back to the virtural event log from the lock.

It’s still does not do it all, when the door is locked by pressing the lock button at the top of the keypad The the door locks but does not report back to the virtual lock event log.

It does however report back to the actual door lock event log. But the event message is unknown. It doesn’t know if the door is locked or not locked.

Hmmm... might be time to bring in @jwetzel1492...

How do I bring in @jwetzel1492...

The @ symbol in front of his user ID will put an alert flag on his profile with a link to this conversation.

I take it then thatyou have already done it.
Thank you

This seems very strange. Did you get this on Amazon warehouse deals? If you’re referring to the device fingerprint when joining, that is information sent by the device to the hub. I have the zigbee version, but I’m sure the z-wave one should still identify as kwikset.

I got it on Amazon but not for any deal as a Z-wave Kwikset lock.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled included/paired it a few times and always shows up as Schlage FE599/BE369

What does it say on the bottom of the device page?

The 914 fingerprint must be close to the Schlage as that is the one it always pairs with, but works a lot better with the Generic Zwave driver.

Device Data

  • zwaveSecurePairingComplete: true
  • S2: 128
  • deviceId: 1088
  • deviceType: 3
  • manufacturer: 144
  • inClusters: 0x5E,0x72,0x5A,0x98,0x73,0x7A
  • secureInClusters: 0x86,0x80,0x62,0x63,0x85,0x59,0x71,0x70,0x4E,0x8B,0x4C,0x5D

Hahaa! It's like the Bat Signal!

Unfortunately I'm attending a funeral today and traveling back home tomorrow, but I'll check in and see if I have any thoughts then.

(Although my best recommendation with the kwikset locks is always to change out the z-wave card inside for a zigbee card. The zigbee ones are way way more reliable.)

Thank you so much for this information. Easy to follow and successful implementation! One question: I have the original Kwikset locks on one of my dashboards next to the new Reliable locks so I can compare. This is trivial, but I noticed on the dashboard tiles the battery does not have a "%" after the battery percentage number. Is this a setting I can change or is this hard-coded? Thanks again,

winging this from memory but in the CSS you could try

#tile-ID .tile-tertiary::after {content:"%"}

where ID is the tile number

Thank you for the reply but ya lost me, thebearmay. I don't know where "the CSS" lives. I will try to Google it.

Click on the cog wheel on the right top of the dashboard

Then click on the Advanced tab

And finally click on the CSS tab

this has been working fine for years.
