Kitchen Appliances recommendations: Samsung vs. LG

Even easier than that. There's a reset button on the device itself. From the manual:

I had bought a brand new Samsung fridge in 2016, the icemaker failed about a year later and after some arguing with the place we bought it got them to cover the warranty replacement. It failed again in early 2022 with the added bonus of leaking water everywhere.

Ended up replacing the GE equivalent and so far no issues. FWIW the appliance place I went to for the replacement fridge was pretty open that they don't suggest Samsung for any kitchen appliances at this point.

If you are looking for high end, maybe consider Miele? They have an open Api

Refrigerators and washers both have the potential of water leaks in less than obvious places. Since this is a Hubitat forum, I suggest that you get some water leak detectors and install them behind your washer and dryer to prevent problems like the one you had before. Leak detectors are a lot less expensive than replacing floors damaged by water.

While you are at it, install leak detectors under each toilet and sink.

I even have a water valve actuator that will turn off the main water supply if a leak is detected anywhere in the house. Thus, if a pipe bursts when I am away from home, the house won't get flooded.

This rules out LG. None of the LG appliance have a โ€œturn off remotelyโ€ feature
