Hi all, first post here...the topic is how to deal with Keen Home Smart Vents with Hubitat (or ST) in 2021.
I was an early adopter and investor of Keen Home Smart Vents; I have I think 12 in a very vertical townhome (used to live there, now being rented out). The batteries kept on dying without notifying me and the Keen Home Smart Bridge would keep on disconnecting from ecobee, so eventually I sort of gave up. In warm months, I left the vents on the first floor closed and the ones on the third floor open, so that cold air would just cascade downwards. Vice-versa in warm months.
I looked into hardwiring the vents but I never found the time to do it. There is no attic space in the townhome so the cost of breaking all of the walls and ceilings to run the wire was prohibitively expensive, too (unless I run the wire through the duct itself...a possibility I guess but maybe not the safest given the temperature extremes).
Has anyone come up with a fat battery pack (like lithium) to put in the battery bay, that might last longer?
How is the integration with Hubitat/ST these days, if I ditch the Keen Home Smart Bridge? The place currently has a SmartThings Hub v2 and an ecobee3, but moving to Hubitat is a possibility if that route actually works.
