Is there a cloudless way to operate this with HE?
@djgutheinz 's app / driver typically supported both cloud and LAN comm's, and I assume the built-in HE option will support the same.... Whether that extends to the outdoor plugs, not sure....
It is all geometry of the home's wifi system. If the signal strength is strong enough at the plug, then it should work fine as a LAN. The cloud is for the rare device that has issues with the cloud. Be sure to read the install instructions (link in the app).

It works currently with two stipulations:
a. You have removed any scheduled events for the plugs in the Kasa App
b. You limit the names of the 6 plugs to 90 characters total.
I am working on a version that removes the limitation. It is ready to publish as a community integration.

I just remembered I have a WiFi Kasa plug in the basement. Duh.

Purchased one of these. Added it to my above ground pool so that it turns on when temp goes below freezing and off when above. Great deal!!
