I think the answer to the problem is to read the initial post in a thread to get the gestalt, and then read the rest of the thread backwards, from most recent post to older posts.
The attempt to flag "answers" is a valiant, but these don't get reset very often after the "other shoe drops" on an issue due to a follow up post a week later when the REAL proximate cause of the problem emerges only after removing the red herring that was overshadowing the actual cause.
