Currently on 2.3.3.130. I had installed new MM a few days ago. I saw Legacy app got disabled, and assumed all got ported over to new MM. Hind side - showed have shaken it out and not assume.
Things were not working as expected, so decided to troubleshoot today. In the new MM - rules looked OK, same as what every in legacy MM, except Weekday variations were not there. So question/problem #1 - I thought the new MM would translate all rules into new as-is. Does it not carry over variations in days? Compare 'Day' and 'MorningPrep' mode rules from my legacy MM with same modes in new MM in the screenshot. How do I replicate the setting for Day & MorningPrep in MM because they use overlapping days?
Problem #2 - The mode seems to be only switching b/w Night & MorningPrep modes . Why did it not flip to 'Bedtime' or Day or Evening earlier in the day. How to make it change based on time?
No, it doesn't migrate days settings. This should have been documented better than it was. You can establish the same outcome, but the mechanism for days is entirely different in the new Mode Manager. You just have to use the Days Group table to create the distinct settings for weekdays vs. weekends as you had in the original. When you do this, it will automatically copy your Bedtime settings to the weekend, actually all of your current settings -- that you can then edit to what you want.
Thanks, I had tried that earlier but how do I accomplish to have a distinct setting for Sat & Sun (2 days), and then a different one for Sat, Sun & Monday (3 days)? In Legacy MM, you could select days for each respective mode independly, in this table format, all modes are lumped together.
Also, the modes seem to changing now correctly based on timing now on its own. All I did yesterday was go in the app and click a few things. Did that jumpstart it. A potential bug on why it as not changing modes correctly earlier?
What would that mean? Which Saturday would it follow? Each day can only be in a single Day Group.
Ah, your talking about different Day Groups per mode. Obviously, this new format cannot do it that way. But what you could do is have 3 Day Groups: Mon, Tue-Wed-Thur-Fri, and Sat-Sun. Then all of the modes would be the same for the first two of those, except for the one that would have been Sat-Sun-Mon, where it would be the same in the first and last Day Group. Same outcome, different format.
FWIW, this difference is what made it impractical to import MM Legacy with day settings into the new format.
Maybe a warning of some kind be added in the import process for things like this?
Some of us might ignore miss it, even if the documentation was clear.
