Ok, I've googled, I've searched this site, and I've skimmed the "Getting started", but I can't find what I'm looking for.
First, The Problem:
Sometimes Alexa doesn't seem to know the state of a switch (inovlli if it matters), especially if it was turned on my the actual switch. Then when the command to turn off a light is given, Alexa helpfully chimes and does nothing. Repeat the command, another (un)helpful chime, no action. If I have Alexa turn the light on, then off, that works, (presumably) because Alexa now knows the light is on, and therefore action is required to turn it off. This is duplicated for switch groups (grouped in Alexa, not HE). Switches that Alexa knew were on get turned off, but others just stay on. It occurs to me as I type this, that I don't know for sure that hubitat knows if the switches are on or off.
Anyway, I could have sworn that I once saw an option where I could choose to have Alexa toggle the switch state, or send explicit on/off. I cannot find this setting again. Am I crazy, does anybody know where that setting is? Is there a different solution? How do I get consistent control out of my smart lights?
Look in the Alexa skill and turn on respond immediately don't wait for device and see if that helps.
Let's take Alexa out of the equation for a minute, just to see whether the problem is truly with the Alexa integration, or somewhere else.
Open up the Device Details page for the switch in question, and take a look at its attributes. Manually change the switch's state, by physically pressing the switch. Do you see the "Switch" attribute reliably change as expected? If not, then Alexa really is not to blame. Rather, there is an issue with the Inovelli switch, the Z-Wave mesh network, or the hub. Perhaps the Inovelli switch needs a firmware update? Or, you simply need to click the CONFIGURE button in the device details page to tell the switch how to report physical state changes back to the hub?
Already tried this, its more like its not trying to turn it off. (or on)
