Issue with SmartStart and DHCP

I have an issue with SmartStart.
Unfortunately, it appears that the only way to access that feature is via the mobile app.
I have set the ip address of the Hub, and that means that whenever I am on a different network,
I can never use SmartStart - it insists on going to that ip address
So, if I am on DHCP, I can never use SmartStart!
Is that correct?

That is correct. It's always been that way...

That is also correct. Both your phone and the hub need to be on the same subnet. You only have to use smartstart though when adding LR devices.

But what happens when I want to use the hub, with internet access via mobile hotspot?
That always means a change to its ip address!

your would also connect your phone to the mobile hotspot which would put you on the same network as the hub... DHCP btw has nothing to do with it.

Correct - However, the ip address is not the same as previous static ip address that the mobile app previously had.
The mobile app will only go to the previous ip address to do the StartSmart...

And that's fine but the app will also check my.hubitat.com for the latest ip I believe. That said, I would go to my.hubitat.com and see what ip it's getting. Regardless though, the phone and the hub must be on the same subnet for smart start...

I understand that the hub and mobile app must be on the same subnet.

However, your assumption is incorrect, that the app will change the ip address that it has found via my.hubitat.com. It doesn't change! It remains the same. As well, it will not change the previous ip address if you ask it to find the hub via the mobile app. And, that doesn't make a difference if its set via DHCP or Static. The IP Address in the mobile app doesn't change...

Therefore, SmartStart can never be reached...

Another option to clear things is to log out of the app and log back in..That should force it to change.

I just tried to do that....
That as well doesn't work...

(I switched hubs, and then went back into this hub, and iot still had the same ip address...)

No, I take that back.
I actually logged out, and then logged back in.
THAT changed the ip address!!!
Thank you!

(Perhaps we need a refresh button somewhere on that screen to allow for a refresh of the ip address?)
