I wanted to play with dashboard background colors. I don't set a background image. When I went to the layout page, the image link field is set to null:
If I clear the null, then it looks as I would expect when not setting a field:
It doesn't affect the saving of the settings.
I'm confused becuase you mention color and then image. Image is for an image to be in the background from a website url

Not necessarily...when the dashboard first came out, the Hubitat logo was the default image, and it was smaller than the full screen and centered on the page. So both the background color and the image can be displayed at the same time.
