Issue since last Update. Not sure if its related to update or not

Any one else have any issues? Since around the last update, my hub will just quit responding. Won't control anything and can't access it at all. Rebooting it by power means is all that can be done. Issue is that sometimes it comes up, sometimes it doesn't. It just sits there with a blue light and it flashes red about every 15 secs or so. Sometimes, it will come up after a while, others it won't. When it does, it could work for an hour, sometimes for 6 hours. Then, locked up tight.

You might start by restoring a backup and the prior version of the hub firmware you were running.

During that process the hub will undergo a soft reset and clean up corruption in the database, if there is any.

If things go back to normal after that, then try updating the hub firmware again.

I did the Soft Reset and restore, will look at the downgrade and see if that helps. Just have to play with it and see if I can get it to boot up again. Thank you!

This alone might be enough.

There haven’t been widespread reports of anything like what you’re experiencing since the most recent hub firmware update.

It’s always possible the new platform version was somehow the problem in your case, though. So if necessary, downgrading is probably the best way to test that out.

I'm till running an Rev C-3. Afraid it might be biting the bullet after all this time, just not in the budget to replace yet lol. Been a rock for a long time. Been very happy with it.

I did the downgrade, still the same issue. Ran perfect for about 10 mins. Then locked up tight, flashing the red light on the front about every 6-7 seconds. No access by Diagnostic tool or regular portal, won't control devices. Anything else worth trying now that I know its not the update?

I would do an immediate backup to your local PC. Your onboard "drive" life may be coming to an end.

That's what I was afraid of. My kids are already lost without the automations around the house :joy:. Time to invest in a new one I'm guessing, Thank you

@bobbyD can you migrate to the c8 from the c3? Do the z-wave sticks for that allow it?

For the US, the USB Stick provided was the Nortek HUSBZB-1, a ZWave/Zigbee combo. It was typically White on one side, grey on the other.

It does not allow for the reading of the on-chip DB, meaning it can't be migrated. You can, physically connect it (via a Y usb cable) to a C-5 and it will work instantly, no muss, no fuss.

I have done exactly this.. upgraded my C-3 to a C-5 for the price of a USB Y cable. Then, with the C-8, I had to manually migrate. That original Nortek HUSBZB-1 is attached to a HomeAssistant VM I have running in a Mac Mini.

That is the correct stick that I have. Its the combo. Now you guy are breaking my heart lol

You can upgrade to the C-5 with little hassle. I don't know where you'd get one other than Ebay, but it's only 2 generations old instead of 5

I mentioned moving the C-3 stick to a C-5 but I also moved a C-4 stick to a different C-5.. so when the C-8 came out, I manually migrated the one, found it was not as daunting as I imagined and did the same to a 2nd C-8. I had it down to a science by then.

To be honest, money is a little tight at the moment here. Everything breaks at once lol. Car broke first, so I'll probably just invest into a C-8 a few months down the road. Start out with a newer model and will be forced to do some house cleaning of the apps and codes. Temporarily jump back to the old abandoned ST hub to keep the kids happy for now until I upgrade. I actually cringed typing that lol. Think its been 5 years or so and I haven't looked back. Appreciate all that everyone has done for this Hub. It's been a great hub and only a few minor issues until now. The forum has always been a great help. Love Habitat and I will be back as soon as I can.

If you want a C-7 with an external z-wave antenna, I can sell you one. It’s a 5dBi 900 MHz L-Com full-wave antenna so the reach is terrific.

$55 + shipping without the antenna
$85 + shipping with the antenna

Selling it because I replaced it with a C-8.
