Is there a way to test for Bond bridge unreachable?

One of my Bond Bridges went into unreachable status. I only noticed because shades were not responding and eventually after poking around I saw it in the Bond app. I have the native integration and the 3rd party. I can't see anyway to flag this up through the integrations?

You can ping it. Here I use it and a Kasa plug to prevent a false positive on a power out test I have.

I thought about ping but didn't do it. My bad. I will have to ping it next time to see what response I get from it if any. If this does work then I will have to put it on an automated outlet to cut power to it.

Thanks.

While ping can be used, just be conscious that, depending on the reason for it being unreachable, it may continue to be the case after your response in a rule. The most you can likely do is to limit the number of times you check and try to deal with the situation automatically.

Understood. Since I didn't ping it when it wasn't working I don't know if it would have responded. But will set up a ping routine to see if it goes offline.

It's becoming clear to me that as with all hubs I likely need to schedule a periodic restart of these hubs. Unfortunately they don't have any software based reset so it means sticking them on an automated plug and killing the power.

I haven't needed to restart mine on any sort of schedule, been one of the most solid parts of my setup.

You may want to make sure you have an IP reserved for the Bond bridge and review the Wi-Fi channel used along with whether that channel can change.

I have two of them and they do get into a weird state occasionally. Such as this one going unreachable. I am going to post in their forum to see if there is something I can do to check status.

With my shades that have zigbee and RF I too have found them to be much more reliable than using Zigbee.

That's not normal I'd reach out to Bond. I have one here and it's rock solid. My only gripe with them is if the internet goes down the Bond Hub starts broadcasting an SSID to connect to. I've communicated to Bond that it should not be doing that but nothing has changed.

Mine has been solid. never have an issue with it. I don't think I have ever had it stop working and I have had it for at least a year. It only gets restarted if the power goes out, which us not very often for me.

Lots of devices do that, printers, TVs, etc...
If they dont have a connection they broadcast the SSID so that you can set it back up again. Its the easy way to prevent you from getting locked out if it cannot reconnect for some reason and must be setup again. A physical reset button on the device to clear the connection settings would be a better way to do it.

Ya a reset is how I think it should work. It's the only device that I have that does this. I guess no real harm unless you have a smart ■■■ neighbor.

I have been in touch with them about it. But I need to leave it in that state in order for them to run diagnostics and I usually just power it off and on to keep things running in the house.

I don't like that they are wifi only. Would prefer ethernet. I know that they have pro unit but that costs more than three regular hubs. I did think about it as the range might mean I could get by with just the one pro vs. two regular. But it doesn't offer any real advantages beyond that.
