I just had to change out a water sensor and spent a lot of time changing different rules etc.
Any reason you didn't just use Swap Apps Device to make the switch?

Didn't think of. And haven't had a chance before to learn its usage.
I will make a note of that.

It works really slick, and is very reliable! The only downside is that it can't do any child devices -- the why is way above my head, but apparently that can become way too messy code-wise.
But for swapping out a basic device like a leak detector or switch or bulb etc, it works like a champ (and it works with any virtual devices too, which can be extremely helpful).

I'll add that I create and swap in a virtual device before I delete or reset a device I think I might have an issue with.
