Does anyone know if there is a list of often build rules? I'd love to see the most common rules built that might give me ideas on what I should consider(and whats possible) setting up in my house.

Have you seen the Rule Machine docs? There are a few common rule patterns in there. Other than that, I'm not sure there's anything too "common"--anything that common has probably become a stock app by now, so anyone using RM should be doing so because they want something a little bit different.
