Iris Fob ideas, get creative

So like an idiot I bought 10 of these fobs when I saw them on ebay for 5 bucks each. They are zigbee 1.2 (can anybody explain what 1.2 doesn't do that 3.0 does) and work on my mesh. The problem is zigbee mesh doesn't really work with a devices moving around the mesh, I haven't tested it scientifically yet but this thing is slow to jump nodes. The buttons are in awkward position and basically requires 2 hands to push a button and not accidently hit the one on the other side.

So far I've tried using it as my garage door opener in my vehicles but it's terrible as it takes too long to join my mesh and activate my Mhcozy relay on the garage door. Currently I've buried one in my car, truck, and 2 4 wheelers as presence sensors. That doesn't do much because of the speed of joining/Leaving network but I can see that my vehicles are in the garage, though the security cam does that too.

Anybody have some thoughts what to do with these things? Be creative

I think you are talking about the Iris V1 Keyfobs since you do not specify. If so, then I would say that I have not had problems using it one-handed. However, I agree that they are a bit slow on the presence recognition. One can speed it up a bit by pressing a button. I had not noticed any slow reaction once inside the house though. However, we have a small house and it may not need to change routing. Mine are currently in a drawer as spares as I am using the Iris V2 Smart Fobs which have more buttons and can be programmed for more functions.

You could program one as a panic button or use it to turn lights on and off.
