I had my old Iris First Alert z-wave smoke/co alarms working paired to my C8 and working fine. I had an issue with the hub, and had to do a full reset. Now, they wont pair again. Does anyone have any ideas?
Did you put the smoke detector into exclusion mode and also do a general z-wave exclusion from the hub?
I did.
I don't have any help, but how old are they? CO detectors are good for, what, 8 years? Maybe it's not worth the effort.
It’s supposed to start beeping when it reaches end of life, but first alert recommends replacing the ZCOMBO after seven years.
An iris branded device is probably at least that old.
I had bought them about a few weeks ago on ebay. They were brand new in the package.
I think then they'd be good for 7 years from the time you activated them.
How about a factory reset of the detector since you've already excluded it?
I tried several times. Im worried that something went awry when i did a full reset of the hub
Probably, but since these are life safety devices, I’d still consider passing on them.
Even if new in box, they may have spent years stored in poor conditions, for example.
These devices were manufactured quite a few years ago before they were put into Iris packaging, that’s for sure.
@emrausch74 what was the “issue with the hub” that warranted a full reset?
I had turned off the breaker that my router was connected to so I could upgrade some electric. When I turned it back on, my C7 connected fine, but my C8 wouldnt connect. I tried for a couple hours, and i got frustrated to the point where i did a reset.
That would be awesome
