Iris device gen 1 stability

I originally came to Hubitat from Iris since it supported the gen 1 devices which I have a ton of. Initially these devices worked great. I had spares that I could add with no issues and all was good for a long time. But it seems like since the C8 hub was introduced the performance of these devices has been completely unpredictable. Initially if the devices fell offline due to low battery it would be difficult to get them back online but it was possible. Now even if I swap the battery before it dies it is a crap shoot if they will reconnect. Most recently a device was reporting 21% battery, I pulled it, got a tamper alert but after swapping the battery it flashes like it is a new device. If I try to add it back it is recognized as the original device. But it never initializes and stays flashing. No amount of removing devices, factory resetting will get the device back online. I have tried brand new devices and I can't get any of those to connect either.

Is anyone else seeing the performance falling off?

I left all my Iris v1 devices on my C7, which still supports pairing them, C8/C8-Pro do not support pairing Iris v1 devices. If you have them on a C8 or C8-Pro it would be via migration from a C7 or ealier hub to the C8/C8-Pro.

C7 (& earlier) Zigbee pairing options - includes Iris v1:

C8/C8-Pro Pairing options - no Iris v1 option:

If you have your previous hub(s) (C7 or earlier) I'd recommend using that to host your Iris v1 devices, and share them to the C8 via Hub Mesh.

I should have been clearer, I have a C5 and C7 hub,. I mentioned the C8 because at some point the stability of the iris devices started to become a problem and from what I recall it seems like it started around when the C8 came out. But it seems to be getting worse over time. Originally if a device went offline I was sure I could recover it, maybe it would require a repairing but there was a low probability of issues. Then it was most required reset to now where I can no longer get any Iris devices connected or reconnected.

I have tried resetting devices, removing device from Hubitat then trying again but even when you think Hubitat recognizes the device you won't see any attributes and the device continues to flash like it is in pairing mode. This behavior is the same even for new unused devices.

My guess is that some of the C8 code is filtering through to other hubs and affecting the performance. I did stumble on a sale for Ring gen 2 contacts which I plan on replacing the Iris with but from what I have seen, they come with their own issues. So right now I am second guessing this swap since the Iris used to be rock solid.
