So I've read a few things and I'm completely new to this whole side of smart home, I've only ever used WiFi (cloud based) products but we are moving into local, mainly because we are rural in Tasmania AU and the internet drops out a fair bit.
Anyway on that note I'm pretty good at learning and teaching myself how to do this but need the guidance.
The idea is to be able to control this with RF and IR such as the TV, Air Conditioning that use IR and some fans that use RF (also have some control switches in the roof that have RF remotes so if I don't have to rewire that all up it would be even better.
Now I read about the 'Broadlink RM Pro' but that is withdrawn now and doesn't have an integrated app anymore. Just wanted to know what I could do or get to be able to achieve what I want? (The easiest simply way for while I'm getting use to HE)
Also any other advice on anything would be great thank you. If you have videos or anything that's even better (I learn better visually that reading)
Thanks again and glad to be party of the HE community.
The RM mini pro 3's work fine for IR (as do the 4's now too I understand). Lots of posts on this subject if you search. They are cheap as chips and work well. I also use Sensibo IR controllers for my AC's which work actually pretty good but they are expensive and do need a cloud connection. Again, you will find a Sensibo thread about that system here in the forum too.
Hi thank you,
I've seen a few Broadlink threads but wasn't sure what I was reading, so much going on in the comments. Haha
I actually already have a Sensibo and thought I saw a post about that not working but maybe I was wrong. I'll have a look into that.
hi @johnathonkim35 check out the Bond Bridge - more expensive than RM3's, still being sold and supported though and super reliable.

EDIT: should have mentioned this product is RF only, but one will do the entire home if its not a monstrous McMansion. I use one of these for RF control, and sprinkle either Tasmota'd Lenovo IR's (or RM3 mini) for IR control.
Bond Bridge Support is via a Community app.
For non-smart AC ceiling fans, you can use the Ikuu fan controller, which is Zigbee.
