Getting ready to install a system for a friend. I paired all the devices, set up the apps, etc. here at my place on the bench. Got it all boxed up now and ready to take to final destination a few hours away. Have both Zigbee and Zwave devices.
Should I install all the devices, door switches, plugs, etc. before powering the hub up? Or the other way around? Or does it really make any difference?
Always build your new network "outwards" from the hub, using repeaters or outlets to help propagate the signal. Then add battery powered devices once your mesh has been set up.
Install all wired Z-wave devices and test manual operation as is possible.
Power up hub and complete Z-wave installation.
Add zigbee devices one at a time starting with AC powered devices closest to the hub. Reset and repair each as you power up, without removing from devices on hub.
Continue with battery powered zigbee following instructions above.
If they are alreaady paired, I would setup the hub, and then start by installing the closest device and work out from there. That way the mesh builds out in the proper order the first time/
