I am trying to setup my red series dimmer (VZW31-SN) through rule machine to act as a fan speed controller. I am using the driver from Inovelli, managed by package manager. I believe I have my rule setup correctly, but it’s still not working.
In the log for the device, when I press the lower button, the recording of that event is “button 1 was held”. However, when I press the upper button, the event is “button 1 was pressed”. I would have expected the first to say “button 2 was pressed”.
I wonder if my switches firmware is outdated and perhaps not compatible with the most recent driver. But the website says the most recent firmware is 1.02 or something, and the device reports firmware 1.3, so I feel like I must be missing something here.
I’ll be happy to post any screenshots from the Hubitat as may be helpful, and am most grateful to anyone who can provide any insights here.
First: Post a screenshot of the rule and the device info and preferences for your dimmer. Probably should also post which version of the hub you have, which firmware version, and several of the other things that are stated in this post: ‼ READ FIRST - Before Posting in Get Help
Second, hopefully you are using the dimmer in smart bulb mode to control a relay or something else that controls the fan. The dimmer you are using is not rated to directly control an indicutive load like a fan. Additionally, using a dimmer WILL burn out the motor in your fan.
Inovelli Warning for fans- I would have highlighted it. But they already did and put it at the top of the manual page

Thank you. I made a tactical choice to not balloon the post with data that I was pretty sure wasn't needed. It was not my intention to ignore the guidelines, nor to disrespect anyone's time. So I apologize for that.

Yep, I am aware. I didn't mention it since I didn't think it was relevant, but this is good info for anyone who may come across this in the future. I am using the dimmer purely as a scene controller. The rule I'm trying to make is going to signal my Bond Bridge to transmit the corresponding RF signals to the fan.
