Inovelli Switch works in app, not physical

For some reason, one of my inovelli switches became unresponsive physical, but I can turn it on/off for the device with the app. It’s a Legacy switch, don’t believe it’s a red/blue line switch. It hasn’t had this problem in a year+ setup this way.

I have it hooked into a bathroom to turn on/off an exhaust fan. So I’m initially thinking:

  1. is load too much being a fan?
  2. any other settings adjust lately with HE sw updates?

I had one of the first Gen switches as well and recall it exhibiting the same behavior. Recall there was a device setting to disable the physical buttons. I don’t have this switch any longer.

You might consider unpairing the switch, reset to factory and then repair the switch. Unless you can find the parameter to adjust physical buttons. Might consider posting this same question on the Inovelli community for guidance.

I had this happen once with one of my Gen 1 Inovelli's. You can control via the Hubitat but not the paddle. I would see the paddle being pressed in the hubitat logs as a button events. I swapped it out and contacted Inovelli's support and they sent instructions on resetting the switch setting. I can't find the email chain.

I would start by making sure this setting is not "yes"

It is WAAaaaay down in the preferences on the device details page.

Disable Local Control

I have had the same issue with a zooz zen21 going back a few years when I first installed it on an exhaust fan.

Without doing anything on the hub side, first I suggest toggling the breaker off for 10 seconds to see if it restores the switch operation.

I have remedied my situation with a small snubber cct. Basically back emf from the fan motor can upset the switch. Interest that you have been fine for years without incident.

Is there a way to tell what the version of the switch is from the device menu?

I’m trying to figure out if it’s a black or v1 switch.

This could clear it.

I don't own that switch any longer so not sure. Best to post that question on the Inovelli community.

So, under my preferences I do not have this option. Where did you find it?

I guess I should add that I am using a C8 Pro and the newest zwave switch, the VZW31-SN.

First of all, make sure you are using the correct driver (I use the Innovelli Driver V2 that is available in Hubitat Package Manager. But, I thought the stock drivers had the option aslo) . It should be specific to the LZXW31-SN. Then, in the devices section, select the device, and scroll way down near the bottom.

So I installed HPM (thanks for that; I didn't know about it) and still don't have it for my VZW31-SN. I contacted Inovelli to see if this option is available for this device. Considering it is supposed to be the replacement for the LZW31-SN it would suck if they removed this feature.
