Inovelli Red

Anyone able to get the multi tap with these switches working with one of the button controller apps vs rules?
Looking to set up a double tap up for turning in a few lights and a double tap down for turning off the same.
Cheers

Yes, I've had it working fine. Just make sure you don't disable the on/off delay in the device options. By disabling the delay, you're preventing it from waiting for a second press.

Yep, but took a little figuring out at first.

I made a rule for a Button (not button device), selected the Inovelli switch I wanted, then for button number entered the amount of taps I wanted to use (eg, button 2 for double-tap, 3 for triple-tap, etc). Then the action "pushed" indicates the up paddle, and "held" indicates the down paddle.

Slightly weird but works really well.

fwiw, I am using the driver written by Inovelli (via Hubitat Package Manager). I don't know if all this still applies to the Hubitat native driver.

Thanks. Are you using rules or an app to assign the different states to a specific command ?

Thanks. The press vs hold was confusing in the docs. If I can’t find a user app I’ll set up in rules. Appreciate the help

Wanting to check if you dont mind.
I'm using the native Inovelli driver from Hubitat.
I don't see auto on/off as an option in the preferences. Are you using the Inovelli driver?
Cheers

oops - I didn't read your actual question properly, sorry about that.

I used Simple Automation Rules for my setup (not Rule Machine) just because I had it installed already, but Button Controller looks like it would be able to do it, I don't see any obstacles.

The driver from Inovelli themselves has many more options, including this one:

Auto Off Timer Automatically turns the switch off after this many seconds. When the switch is turned on a timer is started that is the duration of this setting. When the timer expires, the switch is turned off. Range: 0..32767 Default: 0

Thanks for the reply. I tried to set up in simple automation...and something is happening but not what i thought i programmed.

I've tried to set up a simple control. But its not reacting the way i would expect
Lookin got achieve:
Double tap up...turn on and set 2 dimmers i have
Double tap down...turn off the 2 dimmers

I have the strangest thing going on.
A double tap up or down dossent do anything...but when i press 1 time down - the 2 dimmers will toggle on, press 1 down again will toggle off
oddly enough...this might work better as there is no way my fan will be left on accidentally BUT would be great to figure out why so i can learn how to use properly

Lastly. I tried to see what was going on in the logs.
Used the following sequence. A few seconds pause between each action (UU is Double Tap Up, DDD is Triple tap down)
On, UU, UUU, UUUU, UUUUU, then pushed that top right scene button
Off, DD, DDD, DDDD, DDDDD

It looks like all of the multi taps up are registered as Pushed Button 1
Looks like all of the multi taps down registered as Pushed Button 2

Hoping someone can point out what i'm doing wrong.
I have a few screen shots below.

  • button assignment for the Inovelli red ( pulled form another thread here so guessing its correct
  • the double tap up simple automation to turn on and set 2 different dimmers.
  • the double tap down simple automation to turn off the dimmers

First thing I would suggest is disable "Toggle on/off".

Thanks
I found that one shortly after i posted. Still doesnt work on a double tap.
Now a single tap down will turn on....a single hold down turns off.

I'm installing the Inovelli drivers to see if that fixes the issue.
Cheers

OK. I downloaded the Inovelli drivers.
Works as expected now. UU - lights turn on. DD lights turn off.
And in the logs i can see all of he button presses.

Now to move onto the RGB status feedback!

Appreciate your suggestions.
Odd that the Hubitat drivers do not work!
