Inovelli Red Dimmer LZW31-SN LED keeps turning off - Solved!

I have an Inovelli Red Dimmer LZW31-SN ("RD") that is only connected to ground, power and neutral. I want it to control 2 Hue bulbs that are in a reading lamp. While the rules I created work to turn the bulbs on and off and set dim the dim level with the button 7 (the config/favorites button), the LED on the RD comes on for a couple of seconds and then turns off and I can't figure out for the life of me why that is. I disable the old button controller I was using and created a new one with as simple of a rule as I could to turn the top bulb on and off. Here is are the rules:

Switch on:

Switch off:

I made sure that both the Living Room Reading Lamp Switch and the Upper Reading Lamp are only being used by these rules:

Here is the Living Room Reading Lamp Switch

and here is the Upper Reading Lamp:

Here are the event logs:

This is the Upper Readings Lamp when I turned it on and off from the app:

and here is the event logs for the Living Room Reading Lamp Switch with me turning it on and off from the switch itself:

Any ideas on why the LED is turning off?

Did this work at some point earlier or are you just setting this up for the first time?

I'm pretty sure that when there's no (physical) load, the switch can't do anything automatically with the LED bar -- it itself doesn't know what it's controlling, so it has no idea what to do with the LED bar. That's how my no-load Blues are anyway.

You'll have to manually program the desired LED bar behavior via rules.

It had been working before. I tried adding a specific command in the on rule to also turn the Living Room Reading Lamp Switch to dim to 100% with a 0 fade time but that had the exact same result: i.e. that the LED went on for a few seconds and then turned off. BTW, I tried have the rule turn on the switch first and then the lamp and vice versa with the same result.

I also created another test rule where one swtich does nothing but turn on the Living Room Reading Lamp Switch and the same thing happened: the LED came on and when turned off after a couple of seconds:

I also went in modified that to 1st explicitly turn on the Living Room Front Hall Switch in addition to "dimming" it to 100% and that made no difference:

To even isolate it from the Hue bulbs I change the rule for the Living Room Front Hall Swithc itself so that it turned on a different light instead of one of the Hue bulbs, to no avail. About 4 seconds after the LED goes to 100 it turns off:

I also air-gapped it before doing the last 2 attempts above to see if that would help but it didn't.

Also, BTW, I have other switches that have no load that turn on other devices and they don't do this.

So any ideas on why this is happening or how to fix it?

I mostly, but not entirely, finally solved the issue. It turned out it had an LED child device and the color was set to black! I tried deleting the child device, but that didn't work. I then re-added the LED child device (switched the toggle to on and then clicked Save Preferences and Save Switch) and set the color to what I thought was the "normal" blue one. I then turned the switch on to confirm the color. After that I toggled off the create child LED device, Saved Preferences and Saved device and it is working properly (i.e. the LED stays on). How the child got set to black I have no idea.

BUT, and here is the big but, I didn't have the color exactly right so I turned the LED child device toggle back on. If I try something very different like red, yellow or green and then then click the Set Color button I see it change. However, I can't get it to the original Inovelli blue. I've tried different blue settings, but unless I choose the one from the top line all the other blues come out kind of a light purple. Does anybody know what the actual Inovelli blue hue, saturation and level is and how I can set it to that?
