Indoor/Outdoor Temperature and Humidity Sensors

I have a bunch of old Acurite tower sensors connected via a Acurite hub to a Raspberry pi. This has worked fine for me for many years but I now want to get rid of the Raspberry pi and all associated Hw/Sw. I am looking for some suggestions for new sensors that will work both inside and out. Preferably, these devices are either Zigbee or zwave connecting directly to the Hubitat hub but I am open to suggestions for alternatives

This request for T/H sensor suggestions comes up often. You'll likely get several suggestions. Personally, I've found nothing comes close to using an inexpensive Ecowitt hub and their sensors, and the Hubitat Ecowitt driver from @sburke781 instead of z-wave or zigbee. Much more reliable, much better range, and inexpensive batteries.

Depending on your circumstances and your budget, SensorPush may also be worth a look, but only if certain features of their sensors work for your situation. @Madcodger is right in that EcoWitt is both inexpensive in it's original purchase and ongoing battery costs, plus the local data feed option using the driver's I now maintain (kudos to those who developed them originally).

I have an Ecowitt hub * use for soil sensors.*I believe each hub can only have 8 sensors connected but getting a second hub for temperature seems very practical. Thanks for the info.

FYI, with a recent firmware update, the Ecowitt hub now supports up to 16 soil sensors. I added my 9th one and they are working great.

Cold weather performance of the latest 800 LR Zooz temp/hum sensor has been less than steller, for me. Ditto for their 800LR tilt sensor. Wanted to like, but...

That is great news. I assume that is 16 devices not all being soil sensors??
I have 8 soil sensors atm. I just ordered a new hub but should be able to return it.

Just checked my FW via the web interface. I am at the latest and it clearly states 16 SOIL sensors. Nothing about temperature sensors :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

Like @kahn-hubitat mentions here, if you are on the latest FW and the app is not showing more slots, then perhaps not. Perhaps post some screenshots....? Happy for you to post them in the topic for my drivers.

Well it appears that temp/rh devices and soli moisture devices have their own limits . just added 2 temp/rh sensors to the already 8 soil sensors. So... all good here. Looks like I found a replacement for my old Acurite system. Thanks everyone for your input.
