Inconsistent - Motion Sensor activity

Hub C-8 Pro running 2.4.3.137.

I'm using both the Ecolink and Third Reality motion sensors.

They currently work like 80% of the time, but there are times the sensors are seeing nothing.

The sensors report inactive during the time somebody walks by them and no lights.

Both are running the generic zigbee and the generic z-wave motion sensor driver.

Is there a better driver out there that gives more consistent behavior?

It just seems weird to walk down the hallway one moment and lights quickly go on and other times you can walk the whole length of the hallway and not lights turn on.

I would check your logs to see if the device is detecting your motion. enabled debug logs on the device can help. If you enable debug logs and there are no messages or errors when you interact with the device then the device itself is where the issue would be.

Just a possible hypothesis

PIR motion sensors work best when the user crosses in front of the sensor. If the user walks directly toward or away from the sensor, it will struggle to detect the user.

I place my motion sensors in corners of the room (I.e. a 45 degree angle to the walls), about 5-6 feet off the ground, lower in bathrooms to detect the user while seated.

TLDR - make sure your PIR motion sensors are properly located to ensure the best detection results.
