C7, software up to date as of last night.
Hey there — it’s happened again. I’ll leave it be for the moment if you’d like me to perform any specific steps to collect optimal logs here, or if you’d like to coordinate a time to watch the logs in real time while I try to recover the missing device.
@mike.maxwell sorry for the ping - not sure if my reply got noticed. My Backsplash went on walkabout. Fortunately, it got stuck being white, so I can leave it for a bit if you’d like to do or have me do any testing and data collection.
Since it went MIA, I did do the platform update that came out this week, but there’s been no signs of life from the lost strip.
there's really nothing i can collect remotely for this.
I'm still waiting for it to happen on my C8.
I'm sorry. I can't wait any longer. I really wanted to make Hubitat work for my home, but in the last 7 days, I've had 10+ devices go missing from my mesh. Plugs, switches, dimmers, LED strips, and bulbs. The whole gamut.
The reliability of local control is meaningless if the devices aren't available to control.
I have deleted all 28 of my zigbee devices from HE and paired them directly to an Echo hub. I'll deal with the lack of fine color control -- at least the devices will work. Once Innovelli releases their Project Zephyr fan controllers, I'll remove the two z-wave ones still paired to HE and give away my C7.
It's a shame. This took a lot of effort to craft. It's all gone now.
Welp. This was it. My venture to pairing with Alexa was a disaster. Stuff fell off that even more frequently and was a lot more difficult to recover. In desperation I moved back to HE one device at a time (because multi device pairing is still bugged, lol) and there was a specific IQhome Osram LED strip that did not reset correctly when removing it from the Echo. I found I was never able to factory reset it after that.
I had a spare box in the closet and it had a controller with the newer Aether chip. I swapped it out for that one and brought the rest of my devices back over. I still have some stability issues — but I’m back to losing one device every two weeks or so. There’s a hub rebooter app out there so I just installed it and set it to reboot my HE at 0345 every Saturday. I’ve been happy as a clam ever since — going on 2 months.
The LED strip that turned out to be the source of my chaos is one of the few that, due to its location, isn’t on an UPS and is plugged directly into the wall. My best guess is bad power damaged it just enough to where it still generally operated itself but did not play well with others.
There is still an intractable bug where a device will drop and not ever get found again, but pragmatism has won out here because I’ve avoided that bug for two months with the weekly reboot.
These are the problematic ones. If I remember correctly, they have been seen (with a sniffer) dropping messages. I haven't had any issues, that I know of, with the zigbee lights that have the Aether chip. I think that one is made by Silicon labs.
Either way, I'm glad you were able to get things working to your satisfaction.
