I am updating the configuration of a C7 (platform version: 2.3.7.145)
For the longest time, Hubitat has not made clear what the image standards are for "rooms" (i.e. https://hub-address/room/list . . . and then "Room image" within a room) [ gswalker88 pointed this out (indirectly) in 72098 more than 2.5 years ago in a post which is still not answered (Hubitat, are you listening?). ]
Based on what seems to be automatic cropping, it looks like the image needs to be square.
Why are vertical rectangular images rotated and cropped while horizontal rectangular images "merely" cropped. [ Vertical images could also "only" be cropped -- that would mess things up less (for users not willing to edit their own images). ]
Why does the documentation for rooms not point out the "standard" for Hubitat Hub room images?! (i.e. max and minimum allowable pixel dimensions for both H & W )
Arguably even worse, why is there no "hint" in the Hubitat UI?
An improved UI would pretty much completely solve the confusion! See the screenshots:
[ In the first screenshot, the blue highlight on the words "Room image" is just a "selection" indication -- as I was copying the words. It is NOT an indication of a clickable link. ]
[ In the second screenshot (i.e. with the living room image), there is no indication of the size of the posted image (neither pixels nor filesize) and again there is no hint shown for image standards. ]
