Image/Camera bug/issue problem

Wont work without login, the browser will ask for login, but HE dashboard won't.

So, I started messing with HTML, it's simple at this point. The <img> tag doesn't work on certain browsers for my cameras.

Even when you saved the login in the browser?

Yep, even when I save the login.

Have you solved the issue yet? Just curious on the cause.

The issue is amcrest vs chrome. Since most of our tablets are running android with chrome browser, here lies the problem. Chrome will not authenticate the cameras, and amcrest won't allow a "passive" type authentication. When we use user:pass@ip, firefox handles it differently.

There is no way around this, other than putting the camera url directly in to browser.

Figured I might as well fire this topic up again…. Amcrest camera url works fine for me on Chrome on Windows 11 laptop, it even refreshes the image properly. On iPhone and tablet, same issue with the tile being blank.

I am wondering what that has to do with Chrome? Do Hubitat dashboards utilize Chrome under the covers on all devices?

Here is some other wonky behavior with dashboards with Reolink cameras - the snapshot url works on all the aforementioned devices provided you do not specify a refresh interval. If you do, the image goes dark at the first refresh on all devices as far as I can tell.

If you leave the refresh interval blank, the image is static until you reload the dashboard, in which case the image is updated properly. This is sort of OK, better than a blank tile.

At the risk of being naive, I find it odd that the dashboard behavior is so wildly different depending on the camera brand.

tomw wrote an Amcrest integration that seems to work depending on what Amcrest model you have. He’s been patiently going back and forth with me to try to figure why one of my Amcrest cameras won’t refresh on motion. The good news is that the image created by his app renders correctly on all devices. If I could figure out how to refresh the image periodically based on a rule, that would be great. From what I can tell, the only action available to update the image is via a motion attribute. There appears to be no way to access the image custom command (called “take”) on the virtual camera device other than via motion. I’d love to be able to that with a periodic schedule.

I mention this because his app could solve the problem with Amcrest cameras in general if other triggers could be used (ie not only motion) to trigger an image update via RM.

I’ve yet to try other Amcrest camera models I have and will update this if I learn anything that might be relevant.

I’m hopeful that my experience with Reolink cameras might somehow be helpful.

Not sure why this topic dead-ended 10 months ago, I assume others are still having this issue or perhaps everyone gave up….
