I'm not really sure what 'Partially off' means

I had to select this option to ensure that one of the 'off' options would in fact switch off the light.

What does 'partially off' mean?

I expect it is there for when you have multiple devices in different states... I e. Collectively they could be said to be partially off.

I had a problem with an app that required me to select this option. See below.

If I switch on the light using TestLight and the use TestPB to attempt a switch off , it only actually obeys the PB if the partially off button is selected.

Note that the TestMtn was not changed during the test.

I would have thought that any off option should switch off.

Thanks for any advice.

Missed the screen shot. Sorry

How many lights are there involved in the app and what were there state?

There are 6 lights controlled from a single dimmer (Zigbee) with local push on/off or remote. In case of the original problem I was using the physical switch and in the test situation was using the device interface to operate the switches.

Kitchen app below.

If this is 6 dumb lights where you're controlling just the switch with RL, then the switch may not be updating it's status in a timely fashion (or not at all). If that's the case, and you have the "partially" option unchecked, then RL wouldn't send the off command. Since, in that case, it would think the switch is already off.

Same principle applies even if they are smart bulbs that are individually in the RL instance.

By turning on that option, you're, essentially, telling EL to ignore the device state and always send the on/off commands.

Thanks all for the replies and explanations.

Now that I have the option selected all seems to be working.
