IKEA outlet on HUE can't add to HE

Hi
I added an IKEA outlet to HUE bridge yesterday but I cant add it to HE. It shows up under the Hue Bridge Integration and I can wing it off under Select additional Hue Lights to add (1 available) But no matter what I do it wont be added.
Could it be because I linked the outlet to the button (the square one) that came with the outlet?? The button was linked in HUE, using the HUE essintials app/touchlink and I can crontrol the outlet with the button and the HUE app.

Also, the group the outlet is in won't show up under Select additional Groups to add (0 available)

Thanks Kasper

I have a Hue bridge but I connected my IKEA outlet direct to the HE hub.
Is there a reason why you need it on the Hue bridge? If not why not connect it directly to HE.
I know this doesn't answer your question but was just wondering.

I have the button set up to control just that outlet out of 4 lights in my kitchen. Yes I could just buy a zigbee button to control it but money is few atm.
I have another one that controls a whole group but it wont work on HE.

But I dont understand that I cant add it when it shows up as a hue light that can be added..

My whife likes buttons. If they are not there she turns off the lights on the power outlet which turns me mad. :confounded:

I tried to reset the outlet and connect it to HUE again without linking it to the button. Still no luck, it seems that the IKEA outlet isn't supported as a hue on/off switch.

Damn

Don’t think it was ever intended originally. You can request it as a futures enhancement. Maybe it’s possible?

I'll do that. Do u know how to request that? Do I just write a mail to support?

Hi there!

This was the first thing I did with my HE. Connect it to my Hue bridge (empty). Since I only have a Ikea hub and a dozen of lights and controls I decided to keep everything working as it is and learn myself automating with HE slowly. Not avoiding nasty things like pairing Ikea controls. This was the first thing I did: Make a bathroom group in Hue. That succeeded and is visible in HE. Over the mirror is a light that is controlled by an Ikea outlet and has its own Ikea switch next to the mirror. So I took the outlet and the switch from the Ikea hub and have reset both. Now the difficulties began; how to pair these with HE? After many attempts I found out it is not possble direct but via a workaround with Hue Essentials it is. After that I followed this procedure:

Still not that easy, the trick is take the outlet out, pair the switch with Hue, plug outlet back in, pair the outlet with switch and press search for lights, it will find the outlet. There you have it!

Now I can use my switch to turn the mirror light on and off, can do the same direct via Hue bridge app or Hue essentials app and via HE. To be honest, I'm proud!

Now the only thing is when I switch on or off the light with the Ikea switch or via the Hue bridge direct (with 1 of the 2 apps mentioned) it will turn on and of but HE is not notified and rememberst the last position it switched the plug itself. The opposit way is different; when you switch with HE it will show up almost immediately in Hue apps. When you switch with the Ikea switch it will turn up in the Hue apps with a short delay (matter of 2 seconds). But NOT in HE! Keep that in mind when you are developing something with this method.

Unlike pairing the Ikea pucks (dimmers) with the Ikea hub (press 4 times, wait, then hold) with HE, you just press the button 4 times, and search for zigbee devices, you dont do the wait and hold of the reset button. I also found this odd, when recently checking for any firmware updates on Ikea, and then paired back to HE.

I know what you want to say but in that case you still don't have you cheap Ikea switch paired.

Yes, this is a touchlink method. The switch is authorized with the bridge so it doesn’t steal the bulbs connection. It can typically be done in the reverse order, pairing the bulb afterward too.

This will cause your lights to be out of sync with the Hue app until it updates, around 10 seconds or so later.

The fastest HE can update via the Hue integration is 1 minute. You have to enable polling in the integration to get that. This delay is a limit of the Hue API. The best way to keep them in the sync is to use a Hubitat dashboard to adjust hue lights, not the Hue app. It’s always going to be out of sync for at least a minute if you use the Hue app to make adjustments.
