Hello,
IKEA Dirigera is my (Matter) Thread Border Router, i have few questions:
How Hubitat can join Dirigera's Thread network (Dirigera gives you code to do this)? I want one thread network at home... right know Dirigera has its own fabric, Hubitat has its own...
Should I add Dirigeras Zigbee Matter bridge also? it is not pairing (I do not have any zigbee devices on Dirigera)
Hubitat can not commision Thread devices ? Am I right?
Lack of thread Support in Hubitat C8 with zigbee is mistake (huge) IMHO.
Adding Matter device with code from Dirigera does not work, I get always this: Matter native cleanup is pending; retry commissioning after release
Using Hubitat App (iOS) to add matter devices that are near ends on "connecting"...
so no support for Matter for me in Hubitat, it should work but it does not.
Hubitat developers are looking into this 'Matter native cleanup is pending' issue now, so hopefully a fix will be available soon. In the meantime, you can try rebooting your C8 hub and then attempt to pair the IKEA Matter over Thread devices again using the code generated from the Dirigera hub.
I have deleted bridge from hubitat. Now I can not add it again... also no code from matter device from Dirigera works in Hubitat. "Matter native cleanup is pending; retry commissioning after release"
This is probably the same problem in the latest HE platform release, that we are waiting to be fixed.
Did you try rebooting your Hubitat hub?
Another temporary workaround that you can try : go to Settings-> Matter Details
First disable, and then enable the Matter integration. This may help, till we are waiting for a fix.
Both have the same problem (mentioned above: "Matter native cleanup is pending; retry commissioning after release). Also I do not see in Dirigera Home Smart app code for adding Dirigera hub bridge to Hubitat anymore.
What hub do you have? Unless it is a C8 Pro T, there is no Hubitat Thread network to join. But I'm guessing it could be since you mentioned Thread without Zigbee (characteristic of C8 Pro T) elsewhere. Just want to make sure.
Multi-vendor sharing of a single Thread network isn't quite real yet. That can be supported in Thread 1.4, but that doesn't mean every vendor even running Thread 1.4 supports it. As far as I know, multiple C-8 Pro T hubs can share a network, but with each other, not another vendor.
I'm sure they didn't think that Thread instead of Zigbee was optimal. What it was was the only practical option with current hardware. That said, what I did was repurpose an old C-7 hub as a "managed Zigbee radio" using Hub Mesh and it works great. Makes as much sense as having to buy a Zigbee dongle.
I've seen the Matter cleanup issue as well. A reboot fixes it for me until the issue is resolved.
@HAL9000 I own C8 Pro, zigbee & zwave model version. I am new to Thread & Matter, it is confusing. So C8 Pro, can not commision Matter over Thread even with TBR (Thread Border Router) in network? Ikea Dirigera offers code to merge thread network. Why cant I join Hubitat thread Fabric to the IKEA Dirigera Thread Fabric? Also, I love C8 for the stable as a rock work, when it is integrated well. I have moved from Home assistant just for stability. I want my automation hub to be flawless and invisible, no dashboards, no switches and panels. Anyway, I wanted Thread over matter instead of matter over wifi, due to the many reasons including privacy and my network topology. My idea was to merge Dirigera with C8 Pro. Sounded solid and good idea. Well ... rebooting C8 has changed nothing. I still can not add devices (matter) to Hubitat. Also, after update of Dirigera I do not see option to add matter bridge to another smart center, only devices. Which means i would need to add the 1 by 1 to hubitat if adding matter devices would work. As I have understood this is the way of multi controller administration of devices work. Not sure.
The C-8 Pro (without the "T") does not have an operable Thread radio. It cannot do Thread at all. However, Matter is a layer above Thread in the protocol stack, and it does Matter. What this means is your Thread devices need to be put on a Thread Border Router's Thread network, and then the device shared as a Matter device to Hubitat. The TBR translates Thread to IP and presents that over your LAN to your C-8 Pro.
Although I have a houseful of IKEA devices, I don't know anything about the Dirigera. But typically, once you've joined a specific device to it, there should be an option to share control of that device with another Matter controller like the C-8 Pro.
Honestly, the Hubitat with Zigbee (4.0 possibly), Zwave, and Thread would be all I need. I could live with Dirigera + C8 Pro if it would work. But it does not.
Since I don't have one, the best I can say is that it should work, so don't get discouraged, especially after the Matter cleanup issue is resolved. Make sure the Dirigera and the device you are trying to share are at the latest firmware. This is a must. I would imagine the Dirigera would prompt you if there was an upgrade available.
Well it kinda works, after whole day, the method of rebooting C8 Pro, then fast after reboot add matter device with code from Dirigera (only one, the second gives known error) and than reboot again. I do not know why rebooting did not helped before.
As far as I know, Dirigera updates fw by itself automatically. It did when I have installed my piece.
This response is generated when the matter stack crashes in a specific way, leaving an unresolved process marker running in the main hub thread.
Our matter watchdog then restarts the matter process, however this abandoned process isn't able to complete.
Unfortunately when matter restarts it removes the evidence that we need to fix the the actual crash.
The next platform release will update the internal matter logging such that a crashed matter restart will preserve the required logs that we will be able to retrieve for inspection.
So the next update will have the required log retention, but will not obviously have a fix for the issue.
So in short, folks having this issue should try to invoke this error again after the next platform update drops, and if successful DM me your hub ID so I can fetch the logs and then fix the actual issue.
It's safe to reboot after this to return to an uncorrupted base line, the matter log evidence will not be removed.
