IFTTT change over for blinds

Hello,

Im looking for assistance on creating a rule in Hubitat as i do not want to pay for IFTT starting Oct. 7th.

I currently, run an automation for IFTT that allows me to open the blinds in the house via google hubs.

i.e. "Hey google" "Open the kitchen window blinds"

Can anyone help me, as i don't know how to do this on Hubitat.

i already have my Hunter Douglas blinds linked with my hub and google linked as well.

Thanks for any help.

Have you tried exposing your blinds to Google through the built in Google integration app? If not, see if you can do that first. If you can't or can't get that to work, read on...

I believe the most common approach would be to setup a virtual switch in your HE hub, expose that to your Google Home using the built-in Google app on the HE hub. In Google Home adjust / create your routine to accept the voice command you want to use and have the routine flick the switch in Google Home. Back in HE setup a rule to trigger on the switch and in the actions open/close your blinds, but read notes below first.

There a few options re the switch and the rule(a). It may be problematic to maintain the status of the blinds being open or closed, so you may want to go into the virtual switch device page and set it to turn off automatically after say half a second. If you do this you can then do one of two things (I think), if you can toggle the blinds then set your rule to be triggered on the virtual switch turning on and in the rule actions call the toggle command, if you can't toggle, you may want to setup a second virtual switch, thus having one switch for open and one for close, and similarly two rules I would suggest, one triggered by the on switch and one by the off switch.

I've made a bad habit of answering these type of questions just as I go to bed, so I will need to leave you with my rambling answer, hopefully you will find your way and others may be able to assist as well.

One last tip, when trying to initiate a command on the blinds in a rule, you will most likely need to select the switch capability and choose the option that includes run custom command

Good luck...

Thanks for the reply.

You've put a lot of concepts in there and i have to take some time to learn/research them all. haha

Thank you though, i will go through and explore the options above.

Here's a couple of screenshots of something similar I have to close all my blinds (with a copy of this for opening them as well):

Use of the switch in RM Rule:

Slightly more complicated then what I explained last night given I have some window sensors that I want to check inside my rule, but hopefully you get the idea.
