I woke up this morning and my C-8 Pro is dead [RESOLVED]

Brand-new C-8 Pro. Had a storm lastnight, when I woke up absolutely nothing was working.

C-8 Pro just sitting there with a blue LED doing nothing.. :frowning:

I tried the reset button underneath and after holding it down for about 20 seconds, the light went red-green-blue and then eventually just stayed blue again.

Anything I haven't tried yet?

Diagnostic tool seems to still be alive. Maybe I can just re-upload a 24-hour old backup and be on my way hopefully.

Best thing to do.... Likely the database became corrupt during the power outage. Just note the button on the bottom doesn't reset the whole hub, it simply resets the network settings and you only have to do it for 7 or 8 seconds.

When you get a blue light and reboot does not fix it, soft reset and then load your latest backup. Hub is having an issue loading the database.

After recovering your Hubitat hub from the effects of database corruption, which occurs mostly due to a sudden interruption in power, consider putting your hub on a UPS.

Yeah, it WAS on a UPS and the battery needs replacement, so I was actually getting some weird things happening with Hubitat every couple of weeks when the UPS went on battery for the battery test. I finally figured out what was happening, temporarily removed the Hubitat from the UPS while I was waiting for the new battery... then lastnight happens while it was still plugged into wall power. New battery is supposed to arrive tomorrow..

Yay we're back in business. Soft-reset + restoring yesterday mornings backup and seems we're all good now.

No!

While we're on the repair topic, does anybody know if the "rebuild database on reboot" option is supposed to fix corruption issues?

My C-5 survived lastnight's event just fine, but I was thinking maybe it would be a good idea to soft reset it as well and restore the most recent backup there too.... unless the rebuild option is supposed to be just as effective.

Yes, it does the exact same thing as a soft reset and restore but in a much less scary (to the user) approach.
