i have 9 of them
so far. (all version 3’s with the latest firmware downloads) Ive yet had one fail on me or be laggy. They’ve always been solid for me. Very surprised you had issues on HE with them.
No hue here - that line of products is just not for me, unfortunately… but plenty of harmony remotes around the house and camper.
I have been running my LIFX bulbs on HE with almost no problems - which is good!
I just started playing with Zigbee2MQTT.....
Gotta admit, I like it a whole lot already.
I caught that one a few days after it was released, and I worked out a few bugs with the developer for my use case so that states update correctly. I wrote a companion app that does the clean scheduling for rooms and keeps track of when the bin is full to send it to empty. It also checks my presence sensors and does not vacuum when people are in the room.
Great integration to allow for more control over Roborock vacs with automations.
I use Zigbee blinds and a community driver, and I have had no issues with the blinds on Hubitat.
SmartThings will connect Tuya outlets and basic switches with the Tuya cloud Linked Service. No hub is needed, and then you can use HubiThings to connect them to Hubitat. I use this for some wifi outlets I use out in a shed for the pool filter/heater and garden irrigation, where neither Zwave or Zigbee will reach, but Wifi does.
If you use an Ecowitt or Ambient Weather station, there is a great community integration for that for Hubitat. I use it with my Ecowitt, it saves the data directly to the hub by IP, and then the integration parses out the devices and updates the data bases in the frequency set in the weather station app to send the data.
Again, I keep finding that things that people do with HA, that I am already doing in Hubitat. Still not using HA for anything... I even figured out how to do 3D dashboards in Hubitat like people have been doing with HA.
Local control of Dyson appliances/Vesync? ESPhome based devices (including custom ones)? Bluetooth devices (like Airthings)? Automations based on the status of my BambuLab 3d Printer (silly, I know)?
I found that folks that use ST or Hubitat (me included) will make smart home purchases based on the platform that they currently use. The additional of HA to Hubitat really makes that selection base that much wider.
Why is the use of Hubithings to ST and Hubitat any better than adding HA to the mix? In fact, just use HA to tie in Tuya and you have a much more versatile add-on platform than ST would ever be.
I use HA for my camper and was originally planning to install Hubitat as a “frontend” with HA just operating in the backend for those devices not supported by HE. But I found myself in a similar but opposite situation - no need to install Hubitat when HA has all my bases covered. Ya, I sacrificed easy Alexa support, but I prefer not to have local voice control in the camper - the walls are thin.
My recent write up of my progress to date is at Yet Another Smart Camper Project - Share your Projects! - Home Assistant Community. A few things I can think of that HE doesn’t support (easily):
-espresense
-dynamic (GPS-based) home location/altitude/weather/sunrise/sunset
-Mopeka Bluetooth Propane tank sensors
-Bluetooth surge protector
-MQTT
-easier tasmota support (see MQTT above)
-Better LG webOS TV support (with on screen messaging)
-Bluetooth Xiaomi and Govee thermometers for fridge, freezer and living spaces
-(easier) openHasp touchscreen controls (my next project)
Edit - thought of a couple more:
-more HomeKit device types (media players, cameras, bi-directional multi-button devices, etc.
-cameras
-Shelly sensors
-HomeKit connected devices (haven’t used this)
-my parents’ old Lutron homeworks illumination system (I believe they are 1 of 13 active users of the integration)
At home, my preferred hub is HE with HA just handling a couple of things.
Funny, I do the same and posted the other day that you can use the same approach for ring doorbells (press and motion)… as well as any other SmartThings cloud based integrations.
