What does the WS90 plug into? Can it be used with a solar panel for power?
It connects wirelessly using 915 MHz to either of ecowitt's gateways. There is the GW1100, which is about $25. Or the GW2000, which is about $55.

True. and also a battery backup for when there isn't enough sun to re-charge the capacitor.

I believe it needs to have USB type power to keep the wind sensor from freezing in the winter. That's what turned me off to getting one.
I assume this will be for their expanding range of devices including smart watering systems and cameras.
