I just want to thank this awesome community

I have problems understanding simple things sometimes (Air Force accident) but you guys have never given me the “google it, idiot” that I’ve always gotten on places like Reddit. I’ve literally had people post something “obvious” then I post “does that mean.....” 100% expecting “ that’s what I just said, read” instead someone explained it further.

This community is awesome and is kinda needed. Without the community, hubitat would be as complicated as home assistant, but the community makes it as easy as wink

Agreed 100%. This community is probably one of the best tech forums I have ever been a part of.

We're all guilty of not understanding simple things  . But you're right; this community is wonderfully forgiving and helpful.

It by far for me. I had a question about my raspberry pi vpn for working. Posted on pi forums, no answer for 5 days. Posted it on here, I was up within an hour. Btw, I soo recommend pivpn to edit h.e while away

piVPN is an awesome project. Thankfully, I've reached my goal where now I don't have to mess with my home automation while I'm away. I don't think I've used my VPN to home in probably a good 2 months now.

Definitely. My thoughts and typing get jumbled sometimes. This community just kept saying “I don’t understand your question” until someone finally got me and answered my question. Even I got frustrated because I couldn’t think of another way to ask it, but they took the time needed to figure out my question

I haven’t really either, but I don’t really leave the house, lol. But a pi with pivpn and homebridge like triples h.e value

I’ve been using pivpn to make temporary cloud endpoints to let my dog walker in if I’m not home (rare)

You should throw together a pi-hole server as well. (Not to give you ideas or anything lol).

I run pi vpn, pihole and homebridge already.

Pi vpn and homebridge on a pi4
And pi hole on a 3

Do you know any other cool pi “server” type stuff?

Uh oh...you might need a while new thread for that question.

Is there a totally random section of the forum where I can ask h.e unrelated questions Like that?

Thank you, I’m gonna ask now

LMAO... Hey now! You leave my kinda weird, slightly quirky love affair with everything Pi alone! I DO have a massive home server built on Ubuntu, you know. [Looks at my 2 rPis sitting on my desk "shhhh my darlings... Daddy still loves you"] and all my NodeMCUs as well!

Ummmm, have you looked into piMusicBox or mopidy? Oh, and an IceCast server as well. Oh! And My hands down holiday goto: LightShowPI! MUST HAVE if you like to do holiday lights.

You're not running pi-hole yet?! WTH man?! Get on that! LOL

Only thing I don’t like, if my pi crashes my whole network goes down. Any solution to that?

Yup. I have 2 rPIs both running that provide load balancing and proxy support for each other using keepalived and virtual ips. So, if one goes down, the other steps in.

How to Setup IP Failover with KeepAlived on Ubuntu & Debian - TecAdmin explains it pretty well.
