I just want my two hubs in two houses to talk to each other

Better yet, I just want to be able to connect third parties like Sharptools, Alexa, IFTTT, etc. to them both at the same time. Why is this so freaking difficult. I just bought a second hub for a second house and now I’m finding out that even with remote access I can’t get them to talk to each other. “This can’t be too hard, I’ll just search for a solution” …in come 5000 random unhelpful HubConnect posts that point me to broken links, outdated info, way too difficult steps …2with broken links and pages of random conversation. I just wanna be able to use my stuff without spending multiple days wandering in multiple wrong directions.

I can't help with a solution, but if you can explain your case, developers do listen and often add in features if they make sense.

So could you explain how or why you would want two houses connected like that? I would think you want them not connected for a variety of reasons.

For IFTTT, Alexa, don't those already allow you to connect to multiple hubs? I am fairly sure I have had (albeit in the same house) some of these 3rd party connected to both of my hubs at the same time. Not sure about others like Sharptools though.

Sharptools access is specifically where I’m currently hung up. I’d like to have the same dashboard setup regardless of where the family is and eventually I’ll want to be able to check on each from the other. On their end, they can only link to one hub at a time …and they actively point out that it’s on HE’s end and that it’s not that way with SmartThings. They did recommend HubConnect also, which adds to the frustration of the amount of bad info when trying to search. With Alexa if I disable/enable it only lets me select one hub …I haven’t verified what works/doesn’t with Alexa and IFTTT on the older hub because we’re in our other place setting up the new hub.

HubConnect should work; the confusing part is that the developer left Hubitat, and some docs are outdated. You want at least the apps from the HubConnect.to website, where version 2 is available (ignore the release candidate designation--it's just perpetually that now, I guess). The drivers can be downloaded from there too, or GitHub as long as you make sure you're avoiding the 1.x line. They are also in Hubitat Package Manager (but just the drivers, not the app).

I also have a similar solution I've never formally published, but if there is interest I could certainly share. (My original intent was local hubs, but then they introduced Hub Mesh around the same time. :upside_down_face:)

There's a feature request for authorizing multiple HE hubs in the SharpTools community - if you haven't already, be sure to vote on it!

The feature request links to a broader discussion with more details (perhaps the thread you are referring to):

The original author of the linked thread had come over from SmartThings where they were able to authorize two hubs and they were questioning why they couldn't do the same with their HE hubs. The explanation that SmartThings generates a token supporting multiple hubs whereas the Hubitat token is for a single hub was just for clarification on the difference. There was no intention to point fingers - hence the suggestion that there might be something we could do to support it and the suggestion to create a feature request.

Edit: sending you a PM with another option as well.

Yeah, that would be great! Don’t get me wrong, the HE community is awesome and I very much appreciate all the answers I’ve found over time. Being spoiled like that is probably contributing to my frustration, I’ve ALWAYS found a solution or workaround and this time wasn’t as quick to present itself. Thanks Josh.

I know it may require a bit of work but have you looked at Action Tiles. I know it supports multiple locations now.
