I have a ZWave 800LR device I need to remove

C8 (standard) . I have a Zooz Zen73 toggle switch I need to remove, It is non responsiove. I want to remove and reinclude it. I have tried the normal excusion process, nothing Happens. Before I go nuclear and do the Force Remove (I know its a bad idea), I was going to try the old ghost removal process. Problem is, it has a 3 digit device ID (as all of my 800LR devices do) , but the Zwave controller doesn't have any devices with 3 digts ID's. The device I need to remove is the last one, Driveway Lights device 273. Is there someother identifier to use withthe Zwave PC Controller ?

Any suggestions?

You're not going to see LR devices in a secondary controller. The topology of LR is such that it only communicates with a single other device/controller, your hub.

You'll have to try the typical, hub-based techniques for this. An LR "ghost" is unlikely to cause any problems, though, even if you cant remove it -- not like it's going to be a repeater. (That's the usual explanation for problems.)

I know you are not on a Pro, but you might try changing the Z-Wave stack to JS and try deleting again. Probably want to put it back afterwards. Some people have also suggested shutting down. then pulling power to the hub for 30 seconds.

This is actually part of trying to migrate to a pro. Have been trying since June and not getting anywhere. I had JS on this hub when it was in Beta and it crashed it. I do want this switch back. It just seems to have locked up.

Yes, I remember that now. Sorry for all your troubles. I know the pain.

You say it won't exclude?
Have you set the preferences so you can't do the three taps to exclude?

Nope. I didnt even know that was a thing! Why would some one want to do something like that?

To act as a button. For instance, all my motions are disabled with three taps up, enabled with three taps down. I also did that mod I wrote about to see the led better, so that when motions are disabled, the blue light is lit up.

Thank you. I'm about to get to the point of ripping everything down, factory resetting all of my devices, and starting over. The problem with that is I have a sneaking suspicion this hub will not include new devices. That has also been a running issue. I’m being told it’s “an isolated issue, only affecting a small number of users,” but this has consistently happened on the original and two replacement hubs. If it was a small, isolated issue, it shouldn't be happening so consistently.

I’ve kept quiet about it out of respect and am trying to work with Habitat to resolve it, but I have not heard anything in months. I guess my patience is getting a little thin. Ive been living with a half-functioning system for three months, and it’s just getting a little old.

I also use it to open/close the driveway gate with two different Z73s. There, the led is red when the gate is open.

Technically, this switch isn't a ghost, it is just locked up and the hub based process wasn't working (exclude, Refresh, discover, repair all failed) the switch was just locked up some how. It would only work manually. My thought was to remove ike it was a ghost, reset it and start over. I finally did do the force remove and factory reset it. That seems to and fixed whatever the problem is. That is also where I got the first clue that the C8Pro may not be able to include devices. I have since fully reset the C8Pro then tried to add this switch and a brand new Zooz ZSE70 motion sensor to it, and it would not include either of them.

That's not good.

Yep. Confirmed, cannot add devices to the C8pro. Logs show device beginning to include but never fully complete s. Doesn’t show up in the device page, One attempt did show up in the details pages as pending, but never completed, and cannot be refreshed, removed, or excluded. Its like the hub is just dropping connection half way through the process.

It actually works quite well when you don't interfere with the process.

At first you were trying to use classic inclusion while trying to smartstart. These 2 processes interfere with each other. You also told me you were pulling the batteries after the device was factory reset ??

I was working with you on this and what happened here, as I told you yesterday, was the device was factory reset after it was including.

UPDATE:
I went ahead and attempted another migration this morning. I would liek to say it looks promising, but in all honestly is looks just like the last three attempts where thiskn Look like they are happenign as they are supposed to, but the devices remained un responsive. I guess at this point its really just a waiting game .
Here is waht everythig looked like whenthe hub rebooted from migration. Not the donor hubwas completly shut down before I began this migration .

Summary

So far the only devics showing in the regular logs are matter devices no Zwave devices areee showing any activity . This is consistatn with past experience.
